Backgroudn image: Sun pictured at extreme ultraviolet wavelengths on 10 August 2018, superimposed with the magnetic-field lines calculated by computer models. The high concentration of field lines (centre) correlates with a bright, active region, while the lack of lines (top) shows a coronal hole, showing that magnetism drives the dynamic activity near the Sun’s surface.
