Modelling of magnetic field evolution in Virgo Cluster
In order to understand interactions of galaxies and galaxies with their surroundings within cluster environment we constructed models of magnetic field evolution in spiral galaxies affecting by such interaction. The model takes the velocity field evolution calculated by our partners and integrates the induction (dynamo) equation:
Having the magnetic field configuration and assuming the relativistic electron distribution we are able to calculate the polarized intensity maps (and polarization directions) at each time step of the galactic evolution. Our calculated polarized intensity maps are directly comparable with real observations performed by us at radio frequencies. The comparison discriminates between various interaction scenarios and provides the information of the possible history of particular galaxy. Gathering larger sample of individual galactic histories we hope to have deep insight into the processes taking place in the Virgo Cluster, and into the evolution of the cluster itself.
